The foundation stone of this college was laid down by Hon. Shri Prafullbhai Patel a true successor of his father of the Gondia Education Society Late Shri Manoharbhai Patel who envisioned the pious dream more than five decades ago and sowed the seeds of education in Bhandara district in the year 1995 1996.The building was inaugurated on 29 October 2008 in the gracious presence of Hon. Shri. Prafullbhai Patel, Member of Parliament, Hon. Smt. Varshaben Patel, Hon. Shri. Mukeshbhai Patel, Vice President, GES and Hon. Shri. Rajendraji Jain. ,MLA. in the memory of his mother LateSmt. Rewaben Manoharbhai Patel. With a vision of providing quality higher education to the girls students specially who were socially and economically deprived. With the opening of the College the GES has started spreading educational institution in the district of Bhandara and put its stronghold over the educational development activities which are going on ceaselessly.

Smt. Rewaben Manoharbhai Mahila Kala Mahavidyalaya is not just an  institution but a byword for excellence, a synonym for quality and a signature of the best in higher education. The college is centrally located and is regarded as one of the best Institution in Higher Education in district. The college is successfully running 13 undergraduate courses in faculty of Arts. The college is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur university and is included under the sections of 12[b] and 2(f) of UGC Act 1956 in August 2011.

The college has adequate and well-equipped infrastructural facilities – Class rooms,Gym, Library, Music, Home Economics and Geography laboratory,playground etc. Apart from the regular teaching learning activities, the collegestrives for the overall development of the students by conducting variousextra-curricular activities for them. The college has conducted a good number of extension activities to strengthen college neighbourhood network. The NSSunit is an asset to the college which allows 100 volunteers. This unit conducts various extension activities to help our students become aware of their social responsibilities. The college has been working sincerely for the betterment of the students. The library has been computerized with latest software i.e. LIBMAN CLOUD SOFTWARE. All office work, examination work, Admission work has been computerized in college. The college consist of Students Grievance cell, Women Redressal Cell, Internal complaint committee, Anti Ragging Committee, Students Representative Council, Students Welfare Board. The college has implemented the concept of National Insurance policy for student affiliating with RTMNU university.

The teaching staff of the college is well qualified and devoted. Nine staff members possess Ph. D. and rest of them are pursuing. The staff is consistently and actively busy in several research activities and in publishing research papers in various national and international journals and books. The college is sincerely trying to upgrade its academic standards with the help of well qualified and devoted staff members. Various staff members are fulfilling their responsibilities as a member of the Board of Study and Special Task Committee. Its vision is to improve the quality of life, environment and society by training youth to become the agent of growth, innovation and change. Its mission is to make student competent and competitive by imparting them with 21st century knowledge, skills and attitude. The college is run by Gondia Education Society, Gondia. It is a Hindi Linguistic Minority Hindi Educational Society.
